ESSMA Summit 2018 proves to be must-attend stadium industry gathering
The fourth ESSMA Summit was held in Aviva Stadium in Dublin (Ireland), home of the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI), on 16 and 17 January 2018. Over 375 participants from 31 countries attended this stadium industry gathering.
Organised by ESSMA (European Stadium & Safety Management Association) in partnership with the ECA (European Club Association) and the EPFL (European Professional Football Leagues), the ESSMA Summit has become the must-attend event for those involved in the stadium industry.
Day one marked keynote sessions regarding Stadium Lifecycle & Matchday Operations with speakers from Juventus FC, LaLiga, FC Bayern Munich, Disneyland Paris and more.
Day two saw the record crowd of 375 participants separated into different tracks: Operations & Ticketing; Fan Experience & Engagement; Pitch Management; Stadium Development; Safety & Security; Fan Experience & Hospitality; SMART & Innovation.
Quality networking, numerous ideas to take home and the high number of clubs, stadiums, leagues & federations attending turned this into a successful edition.
Credits go out to the event venue: definitely one of the reasons why the ESSMA Summit is one not to miss. The Aviva Stadium is built on the site of the former Lansdowne Road stadium, which was demolished in 2007. It reopened its doors on 14th May 2010 and has a capacity of 51,700 seats. It’s a fantastic stadium with an iconic design: the stadium being low at one end was to not disturb the amount of light into the residential homes and to fit in the landscape.
The 2019 edition will take place at Estadio Do Dragao, home to FC Porto.
