After 6 manic weeks, the EURO 2016 adventure has come to an end… After 6 intense games (4 group stage matches + 1 round of 16 + 1 semi final) and a load of new experiences, it was time to leave the Lyon stadium behind…

This UEFA experience brought me a lot of learnings:

  • the how & what: operations of a huge organization like a European Football Championship
  • how to implement & supervise matchday operations (seats, signage, access, fan group segregation,…)
  • troubleshooting ticketing-related issues on match days inside the concourse and at the turnstiles
  • liaising with safety, security and access control services
  • liaising between staff, city, stadium operations/club involved in stadium operations
  • what it means to serve as a main contact for stadium counterparts
  • that volunteers are the beating heart of a big organization
  • how to manage, brief and motivate volunteers
  • how language can be a real communication barrier
  • football isn’t just about emotions, it IS emotion (I’ve seen enough people cry 🙂 )

During the past few days I took the time to create a short aftermovie of the Lyon ticketing team at EURO 2016. Besides a lot of working and very little sleep, there was also some room for fun, new friendships and a lot of dancing 🙂 . Thanks all / Merci à tous! Good luck in all the things you do!
